Nouveau to Screen Thousands of Children in South Africa

In celebration of the 2010 World Cup, Nouveau Eyewear kicked off a series of screenings in an effort to bring healthcare to more than 2000 children in South Africa. Known as the Bona Bolo (“See the Ball”) campaign, the initiative launched in the South African town of Bedfordview during a youth soccer clinic and tournament.

The screening provided many South African children with vision assessments they might not otherwise have had. For three hours, local optometry students, optometrists and non-clinical volunteers worked carefully to uncover refractive errors and provide free referrals to participating optometrists.

Nouveau supplied stylish Umbro frames and the lenses were donated by Essilor. The South African eyewear distributor for Umbro, Myoptics, assisted with event day organization.
